Case study · Drywall contractor

Nine Star Drywall: a family trade, online for the first time.

Nine Star Drywall had worked from Hollister since 1999 without a website, while search showed an unclaimed listing under an older company name. We built a single-page site with the services in the owners' own words, a texture room that shows the three finishes side by side, and the ten towns they serve on a map. It went live on August 27, 2026.

The problem

Twenty-seven years of work, and nothing to find.

Nine Star is a family drywall company in Hollister, working since 1999 across the greater Bay and Monterey Bay areas. Its work came by word of mouth, and before August 2026 it had no website at all.

  • Anyone who heard the name had nowhere to see the work, the services or the area the company covers.
  • Google showed an unclaimed listing under an older company name, with no website, no hours and no reviews.
  • A state contractor licence and decades of finished homes had no page to stand on.
Before and after

No website, then a site of its own.

There is no old page to show: no copy of it exists, so the before is described. The after is the new home page on a phone, from its first screen.

What we built

Six decisions that make a trade site work.

  • The services in the owners' words. New Construction, Repair & Patching, Texturing, Wall Finishes, Finish Repair and Remodels: the six names came from the owners on a call, the day after they saw the first concept.
  • A texture room. Knockdown, Orange Peel and Hand-Smooth side by side: tap one and the wall changes, with a line on what each finish does in the light.
  • The service area on a map. The ten towns they work in, shaded in the site's navy. Only the town of Hollister is published, never a street address.
  • The phone first. The number sits in the header and the first screen, and every call button is one tap on a phone.
  • Built to be found. One structured-data record names the business, its towns, its founding year and its phone, every version of the address forwards to one, and the site is verified in Google Search Console.
  • Fast on a phone. The whole home page weighs 0.3 MB.

The signature

The signature: choose your finish.

Texture is the part of drywall a homeowner sees every day, and the hardest to describe in words. The site lets a visitor try the three finishes the company applies. Try it here, with the same three finishes and the site's own words.

Choose your finish

Tap a finish to see its character. The words are the site’s own, and the pictures are the site’s renderings for comparison.

Knockdown, a rendering of the finish

On the job, the company samples the finish on the wall before committing, and the site says so.

Do they work in my town?

The first question every caller has. Tap a town.

The results

Fast, findable, and in the owners' words.

  • On Google's phone test the site scores 91 for performance, 100 for accessibility, 100 for best practices and 100 for SEO, measured October 14, 2026.
  • The biggest thing on screen appears in 2.7 s on a mid-range phone, and the page does not jump while it loads.
  • The whole home page weighs 0.3 MB on a phone.
  • The company is now a named business with a site, a phone and a service area that search engines can read.

From the first look to today. Step through it with the buttons or the slider:

No website, after 27 years.

We sent the owners a homepage concept as a gift.

The services, named by the owners.

Their answers by phone went in the next day: six services in their own words, and the work area corrected.

ninestardrywall.com goes live.

With the texture room from day one. It was the first customer domain Loomwest launched.

The owner's Google review.

Easy to work with, updates the same day, and fast on a computer and a phone.

The service area, on a map.

The ten towns, shaded in the site's navy, beside the list of towns.

One address, one record, verified.

Every version of the address forwards to one, one structured-data record names the business, the site is verified in Google Search Console, and the layout jump on a phone is gone.

Four days. From the first homepage concept on August 23 to a live site on August 27, with the owners’ answers by phone on August 24 and in the site the next day.

How we counted

The numbers, and what they do not claim.

  • Speed: Google PageSpeed Insights, phone test, October 14, 2026. A lab test: the site does not have enough Chrome visits yet for Google to publish real-visitor data.
  • We do not show visit numbers for this site yet: cookie-free counting began on October 6, 2026, and there is not enough to report.
  • Before the site: the owners had no website, as they told us in August 2026, and the unclaimed listing is what a search showed on September 8, 2026.
  • The review is part of the owner's public Google review of Loomwest, quoted word for word from its second sentence on.

These numbers are measured again every week, from the live site: speed on Google’s own phone test, visits and taps from the site’s cookie-free counter.
