What we collect, and what we do with it.
Loomwest uses what you type into a form only to reply to you and to do the work you asked for, and never sells it. Three things leave this site: anonymous visit counts, kept with GoatCounter without cookies; the Meta Pixel on the home page, which runs only if you accept it and helps us measure our Facebook and Instagram ads; and the website address you give on the Report Card form, which goes to Google PageSpeed Insights for the instant first look. What each sends, and how to limit it, is explained below. The full policy is below, in plain English.
What we collect
The only personal details this site collects are the ones you type into a form: the Report Card request (your business name, town, current website if any, email and phone), the start form (the same, plus your notes), and the private questionnaire and review pages we send by link (your answers). Apart from the anonymous visit counts described under Visitor statistics, nothing is collected in the background.
What we do with it
We use those details to reply to you, to prepare your Report Card, to plan and build your website, and for nothing else. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for marketing beyond the Meta Pixel described below, and we do not put you on a list you did not ask for.
Who else sees it
Form messages travel through the company that hosts this site (Hostinger) and land in our email (Google). Those are the only services that handle what you send, and they handle it on our behalf, with one addition: if you include a website address on the Report Card form, that address (and nothing else you typed) goes to Google PageSpeed Insights for the instant first look, explained below. The typefaces on this site load from Google Fonts, whose servers see your IP address when a page loads, as they would for any site that uses them. The map on the services page loads its tiles from OpenStreetMap, whose servers see your IP address (no cookies are set), and the map's code from cdnjs by Cloudflare. The home page also loads the Meta Pixel if you accept it, and calls Google PageSpeed Insights when you ask for a Report Card with a website address, both explained below. Every public page and every Report Card page also loads GoatCounter's counting script, explained under Visitor statistics. Nothing else on this site comes from a third party.
Cookies and tracking
The Meta Pixel. If you choose Accept on the notice at the bottom of the home page, the home page uses the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms (the company behind Facebook and Instagram), so we can tell whether our ads on those apps work: it records a visit to the page and a Website Report Card request. To do that it sets a cookie in your browser (named _fbp) and sends Meta details such as the page you visited, the time, your browser and device, your IP address and, in a scrambled (hashed) form, contact details you type into a form. Meta may connect this to a Facebook or Instagram account and uses it under its own privacy policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy). If you choose No thanks, or make no choice, the pixel never loads. You can change your choice any time with the Cookie choice link at the bottom of the home page, and clear the cookie in your browser's settings; you can also limit this in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings or with your browser's tracking protection. There is no widely accepted standard for Do Not Track signals, so the site does not change its behavior when it receives one; the choices above are the way to opt out. Apart from the visit counting described under Visitor statistics, which sets no cookies, no other analytics or trackers run on the site.
The private questionnaire and review pages save your answers in your own browser's storage so you can come back to them; nothing leaves your device until you press send.
Visitor statistics
Loomwest uses GoatCounter, a statistics service that sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not follow you from site to site, to count visits to the public pages of this site and to the Report Card pages we prepare for businesses, taps on the phone number, the email address and the links to our example sites and social media pages, and how often the Report Card and start forms are sent. For each visit it records the page, the site, link or ad campaign that sent you (when your browser passes that on), your browser and operating system, your screen size, and your country (in the United States, your state), worked out from your IP address. Your IP address itself is not stored: GoatCounter holds it with your browser details in memory for up to eight hours, only to tell a new visit from a reload, and then discards it.
We see totals only, never a record of any one person, and use them to learn which pages and ads help people find us. GoatCounter is operated from Ireland, keeps the totals on servers in Finland and Germany, and does not share them with anyone. We keep the totals for two years. The counting works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, because it does not track anyone from site to site; most content blockers stop it entirely, and the site works the same either way. The private questionnaire, review and intake pages are not counted.
The sites we build and look after for clients use the same counting. Each one names it on its own privacy page, and the totals go into that client's monthly website report.
The instant first look
When you send the Report Card form with a website address, the home page runs an instant first look while your request goes through. Two checks run, and neither changes or delays your request.
Google PageSpeed Insights. Your browser sends the website address, and nothing else you typed, to Google PageSpeed Insights, a free Google service that loads that page on a simulated phone and returns a picture of it, a speed score and a few phone checks. Google receives the request from your browser, so it sees your IP address as it would for any Google service, and it handles the request under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
Our own check. At the same time our server opens the same website address once, reads the page to see whether it gives the business name, address, phone and hours in the behind-the-scenes format AI assistants read, and sends back only yes-or-no answers. It does not keep the page or the answers. To stop the check being misused, the server counts how many checks each visitor runs in an hour, keyed to a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of the IP address rather than the address itself; nothing else about you is recorded.
The first look's results are shown only to you, on the page, and are not stored. The website address reaches us with your Report Card request, as it always has.
Files you attach
Some private pages let you attach photos, a logo, a PDF or a short video. Those files go into a private folder on our hosting server that the web cannot reach, are used only for your project, are never published without your review, and are deleted when you ask or when the project closes. They travel once to the computer the site is built on, over an encrypted connection.
How long we keep it
For as long as we are working with you or answering your message, and then for as long as the law asks a business to keep its records. Ask, and we delete what we hold, unless we have to keep it for a legal reason.
Your rights
You can ask what personal details we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete them, whoever you are and wherever you live. California residents have the right to know what is collected and how it is used, and the right to request deletion; this page is the notice California asks businesses to post. Write to loomwestdesign@gmail.com and we answer within thirty days.
Links to other sites
Where this site links to another company's site, including the example sites we built and the client sites we show, that site's own policy applies once you are there.

If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new effective date.
